Viewing Clips and browsing the website

All users can browse and watch the clips that we provide on our catalog site https://uluulu.recollectcms.com/  without any special permission. Use the search box on the page or the browse option in the left side-menu to search for material. Tips below.

How to search

To find specific topics, people or places, type your keywords into the search bar on the home page or by clicking on the search button on the left side-bar menu. After typing in the search terms, click on the magnifying glass icon or search button at the end of the search bar.

The search should give you a results page. From there, you can choose a result that you want to look at more closely and click on the image and it will take you to the page for that clip.

Narrowing Down and Subject Refining

This section will help with refining your searches to help you get the results you want. After you start your general search as instructed above, a page of results should come up. At the top of the results page, just under the search window, you will see a button that says "REFINE SEARCH TERMS." Clicking on this button will open up options for you to include or exclude certain terms in the Boolean search style.

You can also narrow your results by using the "FILTER BY" option in the left-hand menu. Using these filters you can narrow your search down by item type, alphabetically, digitized status, specific field searches and date.

Hints for Searching

If you are having a hard time coming up with results while searching, try several different terms. Use as many terms as possible that can be used for the same concept or topic.

For example:

  • A “canoe” can also come up under a search for “waʻa”

  • A search for a “car”, could also use the term, “automobile.”

  • A search for “train” could also yield results under “locomotive.”
