Theme DescriptionThis theme includes videos of interviews with elder Japanese who arrived or grew up in Hawai'i during plantation period, as well as some of the cultural elements & artifacts, such as Japanese clothing, music, & traditions, that they have passed down to posterity. There are also three documentaries about the Japanese in Hawai'i including Children of the Rising Sun, a KGMB cultural historical documentary with Bob Jones that describes the first contract Japanese workers in Hawai'i (kanyaku imin).
